Connect your AI to BuilderLevel

Last updated: September 9, 2026

BuilderLevel works with the AI you already use. Claude, ChatGPT, and any other app that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), can read your projects, budgets, schedules, bids, files, and messages, and take action inside BuilderLevel on your behalf. Everything it does runs with your own login and your own permissions, and the highest-impact actions still wait for your approval inside BuilderLevel.

Your connector address

Add BuilderLevel to Claude (web, desktop, or mobile)

  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it BuilderLevel and paste the connector address above. Leave the advanced OAuth fields empty.
  4. Click Add, then Connect. A BuilderLevel page opens asking you to sign in and allow the connection.
  5. Click Allow. You are sent back to Claude and the connector shows as connected.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector once and each person connects it to their own BuilderLevel account.

Add BuilderLevel to ChatGPT

Custom connectors need a paid ChatGPT plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu) and the web app. On Business and Enterprise, a workspace admin turns on custom MCP connectors under workspace settings first.

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Connectors, then Advanced, and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Back under Connectors, choose Create.
  3. Name it BuilderLevel, paste the connector address above as the MCP server URL, and set Authentication to OAuth.
  4. Click Create. A BuilderLevel page opens asking you to sign in and allow the connection. Click Allow.
  5. In a chat, click the plus button, choose Developer mode, and pick BuilderLevel.

ChatGPT asks you to confirm before every action that changes something in BuilderLevel. Lookups run without a prompt. Skills run through the run skill tool; ChatGPT does not show them as prompts.

Add BuilderLevel to Claude Code

Run this in a terminal, then follow the sign-in prompt:

claude mcp add --transport http builderlevel https://app.builderlevel.com/api/mcp

What you can ask

  • “Which of my projects are over budget?”
  • “What is due on the Miller job this week?”
  • “Summarize the latest messages from the framing trade partner.”
  • “Draft a reply to Dan about the framing delay and post it to the thread.”
  • “Add a daily log for today: concrete poured, inspection Thursday.”
  • “Run the change order skill on the Miller job.”

Your BuilderLevel skills (Settings, AI, Skills) are available too. In Claude Code they appear as slash commands.

Approvals

Sending messages, sending bid invitations, awarding bids, creating projects, adding participants, importing files, creating QuickBooks bills, and migrations never run straight from an outside AI. The AI queues the action and you approve or reject it in BuilderLevel under Settings, AI, Approvals. The in-app assistant works the same way.

Security

  • The connection is yours, not your company’s. An AI acting for you sees exactly what you see.
  • Each person on your team connects their own account. No shared keys.
  • Disconnect any app at any time in Settings, AI, Connected apps. Disconnecting ends its access immediately.
  • Every call an outside AI makes is logged and visible to your organization under Recent activity on the same page.
  • QuickBooks writes stay behind your organization’s QuickBooks write setting regardless of which AI asks.

Today the connector is available to builder accounts. Trade partner and client accounts will follow.
